Dr-Seuss-Job

We’ve always known it, but now it’s official. When it comes to a career in communications, you won’t find too many better places to work than here.

News has reached us that we’ve come second in the annual Holmes Report ‘Best UK Consultancy to Work For’ survey. With more than 40 top firms taking part and a top ten featuring some great consultancies, it’s no surprise that we are all feeling pretty chuffed.

We also happen to be recruiting at all levels, so go on, drop us a line. You know you want to.

Following on from the eight awards we won last year – including a hat-trick of OTC Campaign of the Year titles - we’ve started the year with a flourish, gaining seven nominations at the year’s first two ceremonies.

At the OTC Marketing Awards, campaigns for Covonia and Nasacort will battle it out for Best OTC PR Campaign for a Medicine, while our launch of the weight management product, APPEsat competes in the Non Medicine category. At the Fresh Awards, we have four nominations – Media Relations Campaign,  Consumer Campaign, Stunt and Team of the Year.

Let’s hope we get to update this post with some even better news when the results are in.

New Year, New Office

Following another decent year of growth and the arrival of a few new recruits, we’ve taken the plunge and decided the time is right to extend the office. After losing our neighbours to the recession, it became apparent we were free to unleash the sledgehammers and knock through to the adjoining offices, effectively doubling our space. Two new meeting rooms, a brainstorming area, new business ‘war room’ and swanky new reception should all be in place by the end of Feb. We’ll keep you posted.

2009 PRide Award logo - Gold

Last night, the corks flew as Pegasus was crowned Outstanding Consultancy of the Year 2009 at the CIPR Pride Awards. As well as picking up the top award, the team picked up awards for ‘Best Media Relations’ and ‘Best Consumer Relations’ campaigns. The perfect way to start the end of the year.

Friday night saw the Pegasus girls get involved in local fashion event – Brighton Frocks – held at the Hilton Metropole to mark the end of the Brighton Fringe festival. Now in its fifth year, Brighton Frocks was born out of a desire to promote the city’s eclectic fashion industry and celebrate the diversity of talent. Its long-term aim is to establish Brighton as a recognised style centre with its own annual Fashion Week.

Last year saw the arrival of the first weekend-long event, with the Frocks Fashion Show selling out in hours and this year’s event was even more successful with the theatrical catwalk show pulling in over 1,200 visitors. The VIP list – looked after by the Pegasus ladies – included local celebrities, media, fashion buyers and London modelling agencies.

I was lucky enough to be walking in the show this year and wearing some of the gorgeous designs. After three months of preparation, twelve local designers brought us some unforgettable collections, delivered in an amazing theatrical showcase. A truly fantastic evening.

As if working in a busy healthcare communications agency wasn’t enough, two of the Pegasus team are moonlighting on the other side of the tracks, blogging for the Brighton Argus.

Sarah – our resident SJP writes about the latest ‘street’ fashion trends, while Laura J – a relative newbie to Brighton, focuses on the local nightlife and ‘settling in’. She’s currently reviewing the Fringe.

The Argus has been revamping its online offering in the last few months and everyone’s hard work is starting to pay off. The latest figures show that the blog section has jumped from practically nothing in January to over 7,000 page impressions a month.

Friday night was ‘P’ party night. Thirty costumes, one restaurant and fifty karaoke tracks. Enough said.

CIPR Pride Awards 2008

Friday night saw a few of the team take the evening off to attend the CIPR Pride Awards and it turned into quite a night. We came away with four golds – crisis communications, integrated campaign, photography/design and best leaflet and two silvers - consumer relations campaign and outstanding consultancy.

The team hit Sky News

Good evening and welcome... Simon, Chris and Hannah try out the sofa

(Good evening and welcome...)

Yesterday, we descended on the Sky offices in Hounslow – Heidi’s former employer, to get up close and personal with the news team and receive ‘a tour of the floor’.  It was an interesting insight into the workings of a major news station and ‘the world’s most advanced broadcast centre’.  We were impressed by the highly efficient – yet seemingly relaxed environment in the studio. The day uncovered some hidden talents – Chris excelled at weather presenting, while Bex looked completely at home on Natasha Kaplinsky’s sofa.

Artists in residence

It appears that Pegasus might well have its own answer to Hirst, Emin and Ofili, after it recently came to light that Amy, Heidi and Lara have been attending life drawing classes on Tuesday nights. They say it helps them unwind after a hard day’s graft and hone their creative skills. Now I’m no expert, but I’d say them girls got talent…
